Photographing my own family is the worst.

I said it!
It really is though. I have 4 rowdy boys and the last thing in the world they want to do is take family pictures. In all honesty, I think they'd rather walk over hot coals! So right from the start I'm having to fight their bad attitude followed by their silliness, weird face making, and bunny ears behind their brother's heads just to spite me. Then, as the photographer, I feel like I have both hands tied behind my back because I can't actually see how we're all posed since I'm standing in front of the camera and using a remote. All I can do is hope for the best. Usually the first 10,000 photos are of my kids all taking turns making faces so we have to start all over. At this point, I can feel my husband's rising agitation because, lets be honest, he doesn't really want to be taking family photos either!
Just when I'm at the point of getting really angry, my husband jumps in with a silly "dad joke" which gets everyone laughing. And just like that, everything shifts and miraculously, we end up with a good family pic.
I love this family of mine, picture time madness and all. They are crazy and loud and sometimes obnoxious. But they are also sweet and loving and funny and they have my whole heart.
