I've been so excited to share a handful of these wedding photos on the blog! A couple of weekends ago, I drove over to the Star Valley Temple in Afton, Wyoming to photograph Canyon & Gretchen's wedding. Placed right in front of the mountains, this temple is an incredibly beautiful place for a wedding. As I watched the weather forecast for several days leading up to the big day, it seemed as if the meteorologist couldn't make up his mind. I was concerned that we were either going to get direct light (bad light with lots of shadows) since the wedding was in the middle of the day or we were going to get soaked in pouring rain. But good fortune prevailed and we got mostly cloudy skies and no rain! Phew!! After capturing a few family shots, the new couple and I walked around the temple to get some photos of just the two of them. They were so much fun and I could easily see that they are a great match for each other.
The following day (Reception Day), the luck ran out and we had cold, rainy weather the whole day. Canyon & Gretchen's beautiful outdoor reception had to last-minute be moved indoors to a nearby church. Many family members pitched in to quickly make the new venue as nice as possible for the Bride & Groom. Good spots for photos around the building were scant, but I was finally able to find one area that was mostly canopied by the trees, which protected us all from the majority of the rain. We moved quickly through the photos and despite the dark and rainy conditions, still managed to get some nice shots. My favorites, though, were when we did the "silly" photos with the bridesmaids/groomsmen....they definitely had me laughing! The rest of the reception went beautifully with great food, dancing, and good conversation.
This was a really fun wedding to shoot and I am so happy I got to do it!
Congrats to Canyon & Gretchen!!
